King Sergu

King Sergu, the old, wise Turtle with magical powers in the movie. A "Dreamcaster," as he's called. Raised an entire magical veil over the land that the turtles and frogs reside in, where the land overflows with life. Outside the veil, the land is a drying husk. These are Sea Turtles, so we tried to incorporate that into the design, along with nods from the cartoon and book original designs, where possible. I looked at Olive Ridley Sea Turtles, along with calcified, barnacled Sea Turtles for his detail. As with the rest, since he's not just human-sized, but is a very tall, 7ish feet sized being, we have to take that into account when detailing him. Being an old, shaman-like character, we wanted to add all of these bits from his surroundings into him, like moss and seaweed on his back, various types of shells in his headdress and along his body. Even though he's old and has some cataracts forming over his eyes, there's that magical glow that still radiates through from his eyes. I am really happy with where I was able to get him. He was a fun guy to sculpt and texture.
